In this context, Hotmaxx, a Shanghai-based discount snack retailer, has emerged as a notable case for industry observers. Within just five years of its founding, the brand has expanded to approximately 950 stores, most of which are located in prime urban commercial districts.

 

1. Founding Team and Business Model

Hotmaxx was co-founded by three entrepreneurs: one with extensive experience in surplus goods wholesale, another from the food supply chain sector, and the current CEO, Zhang Ning, who oversees store operations and franchise system development. Its first store, located in Shanghai's Hongqiao area, follows a standardized ~300 square meter model.

 

The brand targets young consumers who want to save money without compromising lifestyle quality. About 75% of Hotmaxx's customers are under 40, reflecting its clear youth-oriented positioning.
